He is best known for the Grammy Award-winning hit single “Gangsta’s Paradise” from 1995, as well as the singles “Fantastic Voyage” from 1994, “1, 2, 3, 4 (Sumpin’ New)” from 1996, and “C U When U Get There” from 1997. With his albums It Takes a Thief (1994), Gangsta’s Paradise (1995), and My Soul (1996), Coolio found widespread popularity in the mid-to-late 1990s (1997).
